Jamshedpur: National Press Day was celebrated on Thursday at Netaji Subhash University, Pokhari. This event was organized by the Mass Communication Department of the University. In this, as the chief guest cum resource person, local editor of Prabhat Khabar, Sanjay Mishra, discussed in detail the theme “Role of media in the era of Artificial Intelligence” decided by the Press Council of India this year. Drawing the attention of the students of Mass Communication, he said that in this era of Artificial Intelligence, the responsibilities of us journalists have increased further. Journalists will have to be more alert.

In such a situation, there are a lot of expectations from future journalists. Shri Mishra expressed hope that future and young journalists will do better in the era of Artificial Intelligence. Taking a dig at some questions and figures related to journalism presented during the programme, he termed Godi Media, India's journalism as backward in the world, etc. as unfair. Said that on the basis of data prepared by some people, it cannot be said that India is at the bottom in the world in the field of journalism. Many examples of the same were also presented.

Addressing the program, special guest cum resource person, local editor of Dainik Hindustan, Ganesh Mehta said that journalism is a career full of challenges and struggles. Despite this, there are many career possibilities in the field of mass communication. He told the students that it is journalism which brings newness, diversity to the mind every day. Outlining the definition of journalism, he said that every day we write a new history. This also requires a lot of restraint.

Students' dramatic presentation was the center of attraction
Before this, the guests and University Vice Chancellor Professor (Dr.) Gangadhar Panda, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Acharya Rishi Ranjan and Head of the Department, Assistant Professor Deepika Singh jointly started the program by lighting the lamp in front of the statues of Sai Baba and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Vice Chancellor Dr. Panda delivered the welcome address. During this period, University Registrar Nagendra Singh was especially present.

In the program, student Rishabh Rahul presented a poem and raised many questions on the current era of journalism. During the program the students gave a dramatic presentation. Also, the importance and relevance of journalism was highlighted through power point presentation. In the final phase of the program, during the question-answer session, both the resource persons enhanced the knowledge of the students by answering their questions. While student Swagata Lahiri presented her views, student Abhishek and student Bhumi conducted the programme. All the teachers and students of the department were present on this occasion.
